About Rodolphe Le Meunier
Beurre de Baratte (French for "Churned Butter"), crafted by renowned cheesemonger Rodolphe Le Meunier, is a rich, flavourful butter made using traditional French methods. Sourced from Normandy cows, the milk is churned to separate and thicken it into a creamy consistency. The butter is then enriched with cream treated with cultures and fermented to develop a strong, lactic flavor before being hand-shaped in wooden molds. This artisanal process results in a butter with higher fat and moisture content than average. Rodolphe Le Meunier, from a family of cheesemakers, inherited the craft from his grandmother, who bred goats and made cheese, and his father, who expanded their offerings to include gourmet cheeses and spreads. Today, Le Meunier runs the business alongside his sister Caroline and has earned prestigious accolades, including Meilleur Ouvrier de France (Best Craftsman of France) and Meilleur Fromager International (Best International Cheese Maker) in 2007.
