About Il Forteto del Mugello
Il Forteto is an agricultural co-operative founded in 1977, now comprising 72 members, including workers and producers, and employing over 80 people. Located on a 600-hectare estate in the Mugello hills between Vicchio and Dicomano, the co-operative combines its agricultural roots with a focus on cheese production, including both fresh and aged varieties. Known for its contributions to the Consortium of Production of PDO Pecorino Toscano, Il Forteto operates a 3,500-square-meter dairy farm where traditional methods meet modern technology to produce cheeses that embody Tuscan heritage and Italian craftsmanship.
