About Rustichella d'Abruzzo
Rustichella d'Abruzzo, a historic family-run pasta maker based in Penne, Italy, has been crafting pasta since 1924 in Italy’s first industrial pasta factory. With deep roots in Abruzzo, the Sergiacomo family’s journey began with Raffaele Sergiacomo until In 1981, Piero Peduzzi transformed Pastificio Sergiacomo into Rustichella d'Abruzzo, emphasizing artisanal quality with traditional bronze dies and wholemeal pasta packaged innovatively in kraft paper. This approach maintained the traditional method as larger companies shifted to industrial production. Rustichella d'Abruzzo’s artisanal process, now spanning four generations, involves slow-drying pasta at low temperatures, maintaining a rough texture ideal for sauces. Today, the fourth generation — Carolina, Stefano, and Piero — brings international expertise and modern business strategies to further Rustichella's commitment to quality, heritage, and artisanal excellence.
