About Hope Creamery
The Hope Creamery in Hope, MN, has maintained its historic charm and legacy since its founding as a farmers' co-operative in 1920. Initially focused on bottling milk and producing cream for butter, it shifted to butter-making in the late 1960s, using much of the same mid-20th-century equipment and methods still in place today. Rescued from closure in 2001 by Steele County native Victor Mrotz, the creamery continued its tradition under the skilled hands of buttermaker Gene Kruckeberg until his passing in 2019. Known for its locally sourced, high-quality butter, Hope Creamery has built strong relationships with chefs, bakers, and food enthusiasts who value its farm-to-table appeal. Its products are independently distributed to restaurants, grocery stores, and bakeries across Minnesota, earning recognition from organizations like Slow Foods and praise from culinary professionals statewide.
