About Uplands Cheese Company
Uplands Cheese farm, located in Wisconsin, is owned and operated by two families: Andy and Caitlin Hatch, and Scott and Liana Mericka. Andy and Scott started as apprentices under the previous owners, Mike Gingrich and Dan Patenaude, and in 2014, they purchased the farm, ensuring its future. The farm, originally managed by the Gingriches and Patenaudes since 1994, is known for its rotational grazing system, pioneered by Jeanne Patenaude’s brother, Bill Murphy. Inspired by traditional Alpine cheesemaking, Uplands produces high-quality cheeses from raw, grass-fed milk, particularly their flagship Pleasant Ridge Reserve. Andy and Scott’s deep experience in dairy science and grass-based farming, along with their commitment to preserving the farm’s heritage, has led to a successful, innovative approach to both farming and cheesemaking.
