About Agustí Torelló Mata
Agustí Torelló Mata, born in 1935 in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia to a family of tailors and musicians, began his wine career at 14 and opened the town's first wine analysis laboratory at 18. A pioneer in cava production, he crafted his first 500 bottles in 1955 while advising leading companies in the industry. In 1978, he created Kripta, acclaimed as one of the world’s finest sparkling wines. Today, Agustí Torelló Mata produces 500,000 bottles of cava and 150,000 bottles of wine annually, exporting to over 30 countries as well as vinegars made from his wines. Under the leadership of his children, Àlex, a winemaker and technical director, and Gemma, a lawyer and administrator, the family business continues to thrive, built on authenticity and tradition.
